This is a camera made for the professional, no doubts about that. The Canon EOS 5D Mark II boasts of being the world’s first compact full frame SLR. By compact, of course we only mean that it is not as bulky as the usual full frame cameras. For those of you who don’t know, a full frame camera has a sensor size that bears similar dimensions to a 35mm film frame. How does this help? All your 35mm lenses would now have a true focal length. For example, a 22mm lens would not truly cover the area expected off it, if it were used on a camera having a sensor size less than the intended 35mm area.
The 5D Mark II has a wonderful grip on its body that allow you to hold the camera in an iron grip even with long focal length lenses. Next time you are shooting a model with a 200mm, you wont need to worry about slippery fingers on the grip...
The EOS 5d uses a 21 mega pixel CMOS sensor, which counts among the highest resolution that digital SLRS of the day can offer. Make giant sized posters from your photographs! This sensor is among the first few to give true medium-format like quality from a digital SLR, and we hope to see many more in the future.
For those who love shooting high speed images, the camera offers a huge ISO range starting from 50 and expandable up to 25,500! This range we believe is unparalleled on any other camera we know of, and you can shoot in conditions that are nearly dark...this combined with the 3.9 frames per second burst ensures you can capture a series of successive images depicting a motion, even in extremely low light conditions.
The LCD provides a live view mode, something that is getting increasingly popular with the latest digital SLR makers. You can trigger the movie recording mode from the live view, and capture HD video at 1080 pixels, with truly outstanding results from the sensor. We believe the inclusion of the HD mode will go a long way with news photographers. Imagine capturing high quality video and sound right after you capture that winning image, just as an additional bonus to the eager photo editors waiting back home at the office!
The 5D Mark II offers extremely accurate auto focus capabilities, thanks to the additional 6 invisible focus points in the spot metered area, apart from the usual 9 focus points common to Canon SLRs. The camera offers superb AF tracking quality, and you can forget about out of focus subjects with the 5d Mark II in hand.
The WFT E4 is a completely new feature with the Mark II – allowing wireless file transfer! This allows you to transfer images wirelessly to a computer or to a server, reducing the need for USB cables and card readers. Such innovations are what truly set apart a professional camera from just another model in a new package.
